Stick houses…in the rain!

What a wet wet WET day today! But this didn’t stop Rowans from smiling and working hard out in the woods.

We started the morning with a recap of the 3 Little Pigs story, then looked at a letter that had been sent from Bob The Builder. In the letter, he asked the children to help to rebuild the stick houses that the wolf had blown down…

So we set to work…

One of the children had the clever idea of turning our wooden playhouse into the stick house, by placing sticks onto the roof…

Once this was complete, we took turns to be a wolf or a pig. The pigs hid inside the house, whilst the wolves knocked on the door…and called out “Little pigs, little pigs, let us come in!” It was great fun!

Because everyone was well protected from head to foot, the rain certainly didn’t stop us enjoying our time in Forest School today…we made theĀ  most of it, right up to the last few minutes outside. Puddles are great when you’re properly dressed!

However, as a river had started to run through the site!!!…we decided to come in a little earlier than usual today. We dried off, had our hot chocolate inside Hollies and spent some time looking at the bird box camera which has just been set up outside. We looked back at last year’s videos of the birdbox-watching the baby birds growing and feeding. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed for better weather (and for a bird to start nesting) by next Tuesday!
