Special Event - Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

1 June 2012

On 1st June 2012 Langley and Coppice Schools and Little Rainbows Nursery came together to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The children and staff all wore red, white and blue and during the morning took part in a series of activities, these included making crowns, flags, ‘handprinting’ a giant flag for display and special tuck. They were all presented with medals to commemorate the Jubilee. At the end of the morning all 550 children gathered in Coppice hall and, led by our very own Queen and Prince (Fiona and Richard, Headteachers) paraded around the local neighbourhood waving flags and cheering. Many of the households had gathered on their drives and the street to watch and wave. It was amazing how many turned out.

We went back to school for a combined picnic lunch on the upper playground. This was followed by afternoon activities organised outside. The older children were in the upper playground and the younger children in the lower playground. Everyone, including the staff, had a wonderful day. It was lovely to see the school community get together to celebrate something so special.

Langley would like to say a great big 'thank you' to Coppice PTA without whom the day would not have happened. Their organisation and generosity towards us was gratefully received.
