Special Event - Business in the Community Playground Project

29 July 2010

Following a successful application, Langley School, together with Little Rainbows Nursery and Coppice School, had a visit from 60 business people on Thursday 29th July 2010. The business people all work for Cushman and Wakefield, a property company who have recently opened an office in Birmingham. They were keen to carry out a community team building project and they were lucky enough(!) to find our very fabulous school in which to do it!

Although we moved into our new building in January 2010, work on the outside area has been ongoing, with the addition of the swings, rock and train in April 2010. After several meetings with representatives from Cushman and Wakefield, it was decided that they would work on:

  • Painting fences and panels to go onto the fences.
  • Playground markings – adding a football pitch and bike track.
  • Fencing along the path to the playground to make it safe to use.
  • The grass area – weeding and sowing more grass seed.

In addition, they built a trellis wall, sandpit and planters for Little Rainbows and painted logs, tyres and a playground marking for Coppice.

With some arriving on site at 7.30am, they all worked tirelessly with the last group finishing at 6.15pm. We would like to pass a huge thank you on to everyone at Cushman and Wakefield for their commitment, enthusiasm, hard work and resources that the children on site will enjoy for some time to come.

Check out the pictures to see how they got on:

Before...

Painting lots of fence panels.

Do you think they put all these weeds here on purpose?

The fence along the path goes in.

Yes, it's all got to go onto the grassy areas.

Adding a bit of colour. You missed a bit!

...and still weeding!

Painting the panels for the fences.

Da-dah!

The big tidy!

The bike track.

Our new, snazzy football pitch.
