Special Event - Sports Day and Summer Fayre

3 July 2008

Our Sports Day this year saw an exciting development as it was twinned with our Summer Fayre.

The Friends of Langley School (FOLSA) did a sterling job of organising the fayre, which was only slightly hampered by rain on the day.

At lunchtime, the traditional Sports Day picnic was a great success – it was brilliant to see so many friends and family members joining the children for dinner.

The main event kicked off with a short parade by our fabulous football champions, who won the Special Schools League this year. Graham, our resident DJ and Chairperson of the Friends of Langley School, presented the team with goody bags and vouchers from JD sports. Following huge cheers and applause, it was all systems go!

As the rain had stopped (hurrah), proceedings were moved outside, ready for the races. When the audience were in place (and what an audience they were, spreading the whole length of the track, on both sides), they were off! All of the children took part in races, ranging from running, teddy bear, obstacle, egg and spoon and relay. Phew!

With all finishing positions established and housepoints allocated, the fun moved inside for the Summer Fayre and disco. As DJ Graham revved up the discs, the bargain hunt was on!

Ready to watch... who's running first?

Going for it in the relay.

The dads (they're not competitive! Ahem!) line up.

The staff (who aren't competitive either!) join in!

Ok... one last race for anyone who wants to join in.

A lonely bear looking for a name and a home.

Tea? Coffee? Or a healthy fruit salad?

Come and get your revenge here!
