Dandelion honey on toast...yummy!

What a lovely morning Maples have had, toasting bread over the fire and spreading it with the dandelion honey which they made last week
Before lighting the fire, some children took turns to practice their individual fire lighting skills. They remembered how to hold the flint and steel and how to strike it in order to make a spark. They were delighted when they got the cotton wool to light!
Then we built and lit the fire and waited patiently for the flames to die down so that we could toast our bread.

The toast and honey tasted delicious! Everyone enjoyed tasting and eating it and everyone asked for seconds!
There were lots of other things going on in Forest School today, including potting sunflower seeds, playing in the mud kitchen, building mini shelters for toy animals and lots of self-directed activities around the site…
