Rowans and Firs really love, and get a great deal from sensory activities. We notice a real calm descend upon the woods during these exploratory activities. This week we used the hammer to crush some out-of-date cereal, scissors to cut some wildflowers and weeds and repeated a favourite activity-making mud paint…
We also enjoyed filling, pouring, watching and catching the water whilst using our guttering…
Rowans helped to make bird nests and enjoyed watching the friendly robins flying back and forth…
Firs love exploring…
Poplars continued to learn about the Commonwealth Games-this week focusing on weightlifting.
We started off by replaying the team game we had learnt last session… focusing on working together and taking turns to help their team win.

Then we talked about weightlifting and looked at how to make a weightlifting bar.  We had a go at pulling heavy logs on a long rope and used the pulleys with heavy stones in.

We had brilliant fun making our own heavyweight bars by hanging buckets and pots on the end of a big stick and then filling them with stones. Poplars class are very strong!
