BEECHES
Beeches class started their morning looking at, naming, touching and experiencing lots of different autumn treasures. We looked at acorns, oak leaves, Sycamore Keys (which we all had a go at throwing up into the air and watching them spin to the ground), sycamore leaves, pinecones, Alder cones, Alder catkins and leaves, Horse Chestnut leaves and a mystery object!!
Nobody could guess what was inside the spiky green spheres… so we squashed them open to reveal an exciting find…conkers!

We made and used a conker rolling activity with crates and guttering…it was great fun sending and  watching them roll down into the boxes at the bottom.

We also used conkers to make numbers and acorns to cook in the mud kitchen. We finished off our morning with a brilliant game of ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf’… We think this may become a class favourite!
OAKS
Oaks class enjoyed  being back for their second visit in Forest School. They too enjoyed looking at some of the Autumn treasures, and all had a go at opening a conker shell. They used these and other treasures to add to their own Autumn sensory bottles…
ACERS
Acers class started their afternoon session listening to the story of Leaf Man.
Then they helped to name and discover all sorts of different Autumn treasures. They used the beautiful pictures in the story as inspiration…working together in small groups to produce their own creative picture using the natural resources we had looked at and also selecting their own from around the forest school site.

We also untied the strings from the tie dye we made last week. The big reveal was very exciting! We will use this to make a banner for the classroom next week…
