What a chilly start to the new Spring Term!
We welcomed two new classes out in Forest School this week – Beeches and Acers, as well as children from Oaks class. We wrapped up nice and warm with extra pairs of socks, gloves and lots of layers to ensure that we were all happy whilst outside.
Beeches class has lots of fun exploring, bird watching, swinging, bug hunting, making, raking, counting, climbing and getting acquainted with the site…
Oaks class had fun making bridges…we made big ones with crates and planks of wood and mini ones to help toy animals cross the digging pit.
We had an exciting find this morning!
As we emptied out the wood store, we found a beautiful butterfly. We looked closely at it then carefully placed it in a quiet dark corner of our outdoor store.

Acers class enjoyed listening the story ‘Room on the Broom’.
We talked about the magic potion that the witch had made in her cauldron and then worked together to make our own magic potion. .
Each child was given a secret word which they used to find an ingredient to add to our cauldron. They hunted for something which matched their word and then everyone tried to guess what word the object described.
We had things which were smooth, hard, light, bumpy…and lots of other descriptive words.

Acers proved to be a very creative class, finding lots of interesting activities to immerse themselves in during their self directed time…
