Maples had a super time making Superworms this week!
They used secateurs to cut sticks from an elder tree into small pieces, then pushed out the pith from the middle of the sticks, using either a palm drill or a tent peg. They then threaded their hollowed out beads together to make a wriggly worm. Super work Maples…you focused so well on this activity.

Maples also had great fun making natural art creatures, playing noughts and crosses together, hunting for mini-beasts and making smelly pots using petals and water.

They also played the game, ‘I’m not a worm, I’m a….’ They took turns taking a piece of rope, pretending it was Superworm and then changing it into something different. Maples were amazing! They were so creative…turning the rope into a swing, a tug of war, a zip line, a skipping rope, a high jump, a wand and a way of pulling different objects along the ground.
Hollies were very excited about the opportunity to make s’mores over the fire. They all helped to make the fire and then toasted a marshmallow on a long stick, over the embers. Once it was cooked, they popped it between two biscuits and squashed it flat…then enjoyed eating it! We all worked together to put the fire out at the end of the session.
As always, it was a busy fun morning out in the woods for Oaks. They made medals with the big bit and brace drill, played with conkers and transported stones and challenged themselves to try new things, They had fun rolling, counting, measuring, pouring, swinging, mixing, cooking in the mud kitchen, to name just some of the things they chose to do. Well done to our little superstars ⭐️
