Rivers, boats and toasted marshmallows

Poplars and a Larches had a very creative time this week in Forest School, using drainpipes to make a flowing river. It was a very scientific process with lots of thinking skills in action as they worked out how to balance and position the pipes in order for the water to flow from top to bottom without spilling or leaking out!
They also had a go at making boats to float on our tuff-tray lake,
and Larches created a river in the digging pit too...
At the end of our morning we had a special treat, all in the name of science! We looked at and talked about the different sticks Mrs Smith used to make the fire and watched as they changed shape and colour. We talked about irreversible differences after seeing  the brown sticks eventually turn into white ash.
